HONORARY CONSULATE-GENERAL of

IN ICELAND

FILIPINO PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION

Komdu Sæll og Blessaður, Mabuhay and WELCOME

Message from the Honorary Consul-General

Let me extend a warm welcome to you and a heart-felt thank you in visiting the web page of the Honorary Consulate-General of Philippines in Iceland.

A special welcome as well to all of the Filipino citizens visiting Iceland. We are here to help you as best as we can. If nothing else, we will steer you in the right direction if this office cannot give you a definitive answer to your questions.

It is a great personal honor to represent Philippines, the exceptionally beautiful archipelago nation in Southeast Asia.

Philippines offers an alluring natural beauty and grandeur of Mother Nature. An archipelago of 7, 107 islands, the Philippines is often an after-thought when one travels in Southeast Asia. Well-known for it's beautiful beaches. Topside Attractions – Sand, sea, sun and fun are the focus on the beaches in the southern Philippines. Visit Taal Volcano, the smallest active volcano in the world. Check out the architecture of the many historic churches. Engage in other watersports, like sea kayaking or wind-surfing, or take a wildlife tour. Paradise is a call away.

The  "Eighth Wonder of the World", Banaue Rice Terraces are 2,000-year-old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the indigenous people.

Philippines is rated 2013 World's Best Diving & Resorts and with more than 7100 islands, the Philippines can legitimately be called Asia’s beach capital. The Philippines is the gateway to the Coral Triangle, the world’s center of marine biodiversity.

The country’s 7,107 islands are a diverse mixture of Asian, European and American cultures. A tropical climate, warm water, vast coral reefs and mind-blowingly beautiful flora and fauna make this country a true scuba diver’s paradise. With more than 1200 marine life species, and more likely waiting to be discovered, the underwater ecosystem is the epicenter of marine biodiversity. With a rich WWII history, wreck diving is the focus of areas such as Coron, off Palawan and Subic Bay. A great place to see scorpionfish, emperor, barracuda, Moorish idol, flute mouth, tuna, batfish and trevally. Some of the more unusual creatures spotted also include pygmy sea horses, parrotfish, lionfish, triggerfish, unicorn fish, trumpet fish, wrasse, mantis shrimp, squid, and octopus. Bigger animals also get into the picture with eagle rays, devil rays, manta rays and sharks, including thresher sharks and hammerhead sharks.

Salamat - Takk fyrir - Thank you.

Chocolate Hills While not edible, or at all fudge-like, the Chocolate Hills of the Philippines are a fascinating natural phenomena of nearly 2000 grass-covered limestone hills. Nestled in Bohol, the Chocolate Hills are considered haycock hills due to their symmetrical, conical shapes and vary from between 100 and 400 feet high. Quite deservedly, the Chocolate Hills are one of the Philippines most popular tourist attractions.

Intramuros

Intramuros

Intramuros. The oldest district and historical spot of Manila which came from a latin word Intramuros – meaning “within the walls”. This was also known as Ciudad Murada or “walled city” for its most popular feature: a nearly three-mile-long routine of large rock surfaces and fortifications that almost absolutely encompasses the whole region. You can ride a Kalesa (horse with a cart) to tour the place or take a walk.
